Participation Rules:
Write a 500 to 750 word, typed, double-spaced essay responding to one of the prompts below. All entries are required to have a cover letter with the name of the entrant, contact number, email, and address. All sources must be cited with proper citation practices, whichever you choose. Please submit all entries by Nov.10, 2009.

Qualifications:
Open to all North California 12th grade students, limited one essay per student.

Categories:
The contest has 5 categories: economics, politics, technology, medicine, and environmental protection. For specific essay prompts, please refer to the 2009 Essay Contest Rules document.

Awards:
Essays will be chosen from each category and awarded First, Second, Third place, and Distinguished Paper. Awards are issued by members of the state senate and North California Chinese Media Association.

Deadline:
All essays must be postmarked by November 10, 2009.
