WHAT:
California residents are invited to attend the Oath of Office Ceremony for the Commissioner on Asian and Pacific Islander American Affairs.  The ceremony will celebrate the swearing in of Steven Ma (CEO and President of ThinkTank Learning) for another four-year term as the CAPIAA. 

WHY:
Steven Ma was reappointed by the Speaker of the California State Assembly, Tony G. Atkins, to serve another four years.  This ceremony reaffirms Ma’s commitment to perform all the duties as the Commissioner on Asian and Pacific Islander American Affairs.

Ma was first appointed in 2012 and has continued to advise the Governor and Legislature on how to respond most effectively to views, needs, and concerns of the state’s Asian and Pacific Islander American communities.  Ma conducts outreach with Asian and Pacific Islander American communities through information dissemination and provides assistance to policymakers and state agencies in identifying Asian and Pacific Islander American communities’ needs.  Remarks by Steven Ma will be followed by light refreshments for members of the public in attendance.
