Calla Buttke is a college admissions strategist and college preparation expert. She earned a master’s degree from Stanford University in East Asian Studies, where she was offered a full-tuition fellowship and stipend to attend. Calla earned her bachelor’s degree at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she triple-majored in Chinese, German, and East Asian Studies and earned certificates in Leadership and Medieval Studies. During her undergraduate years, she received many scholarships, fellowships, and grants from organizations including the honor society Phi Kappa Phi and the U.S. Department of State, which allowed her to study Chinese intensively in Suzhou, China.

Before joining ThinkTank Learning, Calla worked as the Foreign Language Learners Program Coordinator of Greater University Tutoring Services at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. During her time in Wisconsin she also spent many hours tutoring local high school students and helping international students improve their English. Calla enjoys passing on to TTL students the knowledge from her own experiences applying to elite institutions and for competitive scholarships and programs.

In addition to getting herself accepted to graduate programs at Stanford University, Yale University, Oxford University, and Columbia University, Calla has helped students get accepted to Yale University, Berklee College of Music, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Purdue University, and many more top universities. Calla also works with eighth, ninth, tenth, and eleventh grade students, preparing them to be highly competitive college applicants.

“The college application process is not just about the applications themselves – it is also a time for students to develop and grow. As a consultant, I aim to not only help my students get accepted to their dream schools, but also to help them find their true passions and gain confidence along the way.”
